Shetland’s annual Up Helly Aa fire festival season bring the islands’ communities together between January and March each year. Eleven Up Helly Aas are held across Shetland, all of which are fiery, Viking-themed spectaculars. Each begins with a torch-lit parade, then the burning of a Norse galley and is followed by an evening of dancing, music and merriment.
